LOVE THOSE LASHES!

Hello to all of my beautiful friends out there!

Here’s a question: Have you ever considered getting eyelash extensions? They can really enhance your natural beauty and give you a gorgeous, fashionable look. But, I have to warn you they can be addictive! With longer and fuller lashes, you'll have a more youthful and radiant appearance, and your eyes will burst with definition. Plus, they offer benefits you won’t find in a tube of mascara! (Goodbye smudges!)

With Mother’s Day, Prom, Graduation all around the corner, what better time to play a little, right? There’s lots to look forward to, so let’s dig in and talk about the ins and outs of lash extensions. I guarantee there’s something meant just for YOU!

Where Do I Begin?

When it comes to choosing lash extensions, we should consider a few things. Ultimately, the type of extensions you choose will depend on the shape of your eyes and the end goal you want to achieve. But you'll also need to decide if you’re looking for a more natural, softer look, or a bold, full-volume look? Curly or slightly straight? Natural or tinted? There’s so many choices, aren’t there?

We also need to think about the application method. Do you prefer a more subtle look with just one extension applied to each lash, or do you want to go all out with multiple extensions applied per lash? More lashes, more volume. While some people prefer a more dramatic look, others opt for a natural appearance to avoid a "fake lashes" look. Thinking about your lifestyle may help, too. Are these for everyday marathons or are you attending Extravaganza 2024? (I know, this can be overwhelming, but our professional staff can easily and quickly lead you through the decision maze.)

Here's a brief description of some typical extensions:

Natural - The natural eyelash extension style is meant to mimic your lashes’ natural length pattern, providing a subtle, light look with a hint of roundness.

Mink Lashes - These lashes vary in thickness, but because they are not man-made, there are fewer options in sizes. If you go this route, be sure to look for cruelty-free origins and talk with your technician about the care.

Faux mink lashes - These are cruelty-free lash extensions that mimic the look and feel of real mink, but made from synthetic materials.

Application will also vary:

Classic - These involve attaching a single natural or synthetic extension to each individual natural lash, resulting in a more natural and subtle look.

Hybrid - This look is created by strategically applying both conventional and volume lashes, yielding a textured and layered look.

Volume - These lashes create a denser and more voluminous look.

MegaVolume - The difference between mega volume and traditional volume is how many lash extensions are being used to create the fan and the diameter of the extensions in the fan.

Now To The Technical Stuff!

Did you know that lash extensions come in different sizes and shapes? They are available in various thicknesses, weights, curvatures, and lengths. The most commonly preferred length is 10-12mm, as it offers a natural and subtle look. However, the length of the lash extension depends on several factors that we can discuss together.

Natural Lash Length: The length of your natural lashes will determine the length of the lash extension that will be most suitable. For example, if you have short natural lashes, it may be best to choose a shorter lash extension length to avoid too much weight.

Lash Style: The lash style will influence the length of the lash extensions and lash extensions' diameter. For a more dramatic and voluminous look, longer lash extensions may be preferred.

Eye Shape and Structure: The shape and structure of your eyes play a role in the length of the lash extensions. For example, if you have round eyes, longer lash extensions can help elongate the eye shape.

Lash Condition: The condition of your natural lashes is important to consider. If the natural lashes are thin and weak, it may be best to avoid heavy lash extensions to prevent damage to your own lashes.

The Care and Feeding of Eyelash Extensions

Following aftercare advice is essential for maintaining the appearance and longevity of your lash extensions. You’ll need to avoid getting your eyes wet for 12-to-24 hours after application of the lashes and never pick or pull your lashes as it can cause damage to your natural lashes.

Sleeping on your tummy can squash your lashes by mistake, but don't worry! You can brush them gently with a clean mascara brush or spoolie to help readjust the lash direction. Swimming with lash extensions is not a problem, but make sure to rinse them with fresh water immediately afterward if they get wet with pool or sea water. When it comes to removing eyeliner and eyeshadow, always use oil-free make-up removers and avoid using wipes and cotton balls, as the fibers may tangle in your lashes.

Powder particles can collect in the lashes, so it's best to opt for cream eye shadows over powders. Lash extensions will shed naturally, without damage to your natural lashes. (You can even support your natural lash growth while wearing extensions by using specific products designed to be used alongside lash extensions.)

Lastly, when the time comes to remove your lashes, it’s best to have it done professionally. It’s inexpensive and it will help to preserve your natural lash integrity while reducing the chance of losing them completely.

Some Closing Thoughts

Like any beauty indulgence, the feeling of looking and feeling your best can boost that self-esteem and provide more confidence to be "you". Eyelash extensions are meant to be fun and exciting, so enjoy the ride and get comfortable with them! If you're a newbie, experiment a little until you find just the right fit.

Did I say they can be addicting? Well, they can be, but it’s good to give your natural lashes a break now and then. Applying a lash growth serum will help to enhance the strength of your lashes for the next application of extentions. Talk with your lash professional about the serum we use here in our Studio.
